| In the last two years, we have talked to
the executives of finance and accounting departments at many
companies throughout the country. Their message to us is clear
and consistent: today's economy is the worst that they have
seen and the challenges their companies face are enormous.
IntegriTax is no different than our clients. In recent years,
we have made numerous adjustments to provide the high quality
of service to our clients while keeping expenses low and, most
importantly, maintaining good cash flow.
Because we understand the pressures that our clients are
bearing in these difficult economic times, IntegriTax deeply
respects our clients' problems. Our goal is to not only help
our clients resolve sales and use tax issues, but to make
every effort to work within tight schedules and heavy
workloads so that our assistance is easy to manage and takes
the minimum amount of time to complete.
IntegriTax is notifying its clients that the rapidly
changing economic environment is causing taxing authorities to
change their tax laws to make up for dropping revenues. Some
are raising sales and use taxes, while others are limiting
exemptions or are shortening refund statutes of limitation.
We do not want our clients to miss any chances that could
reduce tax liabilities and return refunds to them. We are urging them
to take the little time that is needed and use an expert sales
and use tax consulting firm to help them before the doors of
opportunity are closed to them. Whether it's conducting
research to determine tax status in a specific jurisdiction or
negotiating reductions to an audit assessment, our experts are
an excellent resource for providing savvy, up-to-date advice
on a wide range of sales and use tax situations. |
Staffing Issues

We understand that many accounting and tax departments are
short-staffed, suffer from staff turnover, and are so
overwhelmed with day-to-day work that it is sometimes
difficult for them to keep up with routine responsibilities,
much less staying abreast of recent court cases and changes in
tax statutes. IntegriTax consultants work on behalf of our
clients to complete backlogged projects due to lack of
resources or access to current tax information. Just like
hiring a temporary extension of a tax department, we work on
projects for our clients that would otherwise remain a low
priority or, in some cases, never be completed due to
expiration of statutory time limits.
Training Issues

To ensure that our clients do not incur liability for
underpaid taxes or unnecessarily overpay taxes, it is
important that accounting and purchasing staff understand and
apply current sales and use tax laws and regulations. Due to
heavy workloads and difficulties in keeping current on
relevant tax issues, many accounting and tax departments do
not have the time to conduct research or train their staff on
recent and relevant sales and use tax issues. IntegriTax
conducts extensive research on the manufacturing processes at
each of our clients' facilities. We analyze accounting and
purchasing policies and procedures, and develop training
tailored specifically for each facility that will assist
accounting and purchasing staff in making transactional sales
and use tax decisions. For most of our services, IntegriTax
provides training free of charge.
Notified or Currently Undergoing an Audit

Several IntegriTax senior staff are former state auditors who
have extensive knowledge of auditing processes and procedures.
Their
understanding of the procedures that state auditors follow
when conducting audits and how DOR departments interpret
statutes and their policies for handling issues that arise
during audits provides a unique perspective and resource for
our clients. Using their expert knowledge and considerable
contacts within state DORs provides a distinct advantage when
resolving complex sales and use tax issues. Our in-house audit
experts leverage their knowledge to help our clients manage
their audits, offset assessments, and reduce their tax
liabilities. Their many years of contact with taxing
authorities has forged professional and mutually respectful
relationships that help IntegriTax resolve our clients' issues
quickly and fairly.
Interpreting Statutes

At times, our clients aren't able to find the information they
need to make a sound decision concerning their sales and use
issues. IntegriTax expertise is based on staying current with
laws, regulations and court cases that can affect important
tax strategies and their implementation. We continually bring
new information to our clients that allows them to take
advantage of tax law changes, increase tax overpayment
refunds, further reduce audit assessments, and set into place
cost-saving measures that ensure continued compliance while
reducing liabilities. In many instances, we have been informed
by taxing authorities that IntegriTax was the first consultant
to file a refund claim or tax credit on behalf of a client
using a new sales and use tax issue.
